Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to and use of this website. Reading its content, opening a page, or submitting a search signals acceptance. A person who does not agree should stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated site has no government affiliation. It and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The site is a Crenshaw County records reference, not a private investigation service or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is an independent, private reference site. It does not keep official criminal records, retrieve files, perform official background checks, or submit documents for a user.

Its role is to identify Crenshaw County record custodians, such as the sheriff, courts, ALEA, and the Alabama Sex Offender Registry, and to provide access to optional third-party research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the site is conditioned on an agreement not to:

  • Use the service in violation of federal, Alabama, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass a person with information found here
  • Use site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account
  • Deploy scraping, bot, or other automated access tools
  • Interfere with performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information from this site or a linked tool must not be used to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or unlawfully discriminate. Such conduct may be criminal. Alabama Sex Offender Registry data requires special care because the law warns against using it to injure, harass, or commit a crime against a listed person or anyone at a reported address. The registry supports public safety awareness and does not authorize vigilantism or blacklisting.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create credit reports, consumer reports, or official background checks. Data from the site or any linked tool may not be used to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a rental or housing application
  • Set insurance terms or assess credit
  • Determine eligibility for a permit, license, or public benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A legally required check for a regulated purpose must come through the proper official channel or a compliant consumer reporting provider.

5. No Legal Advice

General information about Crenshaw County records is not legal advice. Only a licensed Alabama attorney can advise how a charge, warrant, conviction, or expungement rule affects a particular matter.

6. No Warranties

All content is supplied "as is," without a promise that:

  • Information will always be complete, current, or accurate
  • Access will remain continuous or uninterrupted
  • Every page will be free of errors or security flaws
  • A partner search result will be correct or comprehensive

Charges, outcomes, access rules, and expungement status can change. Gaps and delays are possible. Site content is never an official statement from a court, sheriff, or agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to government portals, legal resources, and outside search services that we do not control. Their own terms govern content, fees, privacy, and availability. Review those terms before using an external service.

8. Intellectual Property

Crenshaw County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Copying, adapting, or distributing that material requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the greatest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from use of the site, its information, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims or demands caused by your use of the site or a breach of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Alabama law governs these terms. The Alabama Open Records Act, Ala. Code § 36-12-40, concerns access to official public writings, while Ala. Code § 41-9-601 restricts false-pretense access to and unauthorized disclosure of criminal-offender information. Any dispute tied to use of the site must be brought in a court located in Alabama.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these conditions. A revision takes effect when the new text is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected part will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
